2025 Lifeguard Training Registration and Recertification

Note: Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer is valid for 2 years. All training/certification classes are for current and prospective employees of Aquatica Pool Management, Inc.

We utilize American Red Cross's Blended Learning approach to the lifeguard certification process. This starts with an online course that provides insight into lifeguarding skills and covers the certification materials for CPR, AED and Basic First Aid as well. Course completion does culminate in a comprehensive test of the material, where you will need to score 80% or better to be eligible to participate in the in-person skills training portion.

On the first day of in-person skills training, ARC has prerequisites (or a swim test requirement) that all lifeguard candidates must pass to be able to participate in the certification training program.

AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARD TRAINING PREREQUISITES

DEEP WATER Swim Test will include the following:

  • SWIM-TREAD-SWIM SEQUENCE: Swim 150 yards (6 laps) continuously, stop and tread water for 2 minutes without using your arms, then continue with a 50 yard (2 laps) swim using the front crawl, freestyle or breaststroke.

  • TIMED EVENT/SAVE SENARIO: Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7-9 feet, retrieve a 10lb object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards on your back to the starting point holding the object with both hands, and exit the water without using a ladder or steps within 1 minute 40 seconds. Goggles are not allowed in this event.
